The Echoed U Earring is inspired by the formline art style native to the Pacific Northwest Coast Nations. Featuring the Split U shape, this design pays homage to the artform itself rather than depicting a specific figure. In traditional formline compositions, curving lines, including U-shapes and S-shapes, are used to create a balance between positive and negative spaces. The Echoed U takes this foundational art element and presents it in a contemporary, bold fashion, allowing my supporters to celebrate the wearable art that is formline. The U-shape represents the primary and secondary formlines, traditionally in black and red, but I have reinterpreted it to offer a modern and rooted perspective. This piece is not only an adornment, but also a bridge to the unique cultural expressions of the Pacific Northwest, allowing wearers to carry the legacy of formline with them wherever they go.
